Ainos Mountain
MARATHON
The Cultural Association of Pyrgi "The Pyrgi" for another year with the assistance of PEDIN, the Ionian Islands Region, the Municipality of Sami, the Community of Pyrgi, the participation of the O.F.Y.KE.PA and the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Argostoli and under the auspices of the E.O.T., organise on September 27, 2026 the sixth mountain running marathon in Ainos, "Ainos Mountain Marathon".
The mountain "Ainos Monte Nero" (for the Venetians) in Kefalonia, hosts the runners of the Ainos Mountain Marathon. The distance is 34km, with a cumulative positive altitude of 1.7 thousand meters.
The paths of Ainos that the race will cross extend to the whole mountain, cross the entire ridge with stunning views of the surrounding islands and the mountains of Central Greece and the Peloponnese.
The race is aimed at experienced mountain runners as it includes technical trails and demanding terrain.

Preparation
The secretariat will be open on the Saturday before the Marathon. On Sunday morning the secretariat will be open from 6.00 am. up to 15 minutes before start. Departure of athletes by coach of the event for the start of the Ainos Mountain Marathon 34km race.

Before Ainos Fun Race
The athletes - participants will be moved by bus of the organization of the Marathon to the starting point of the race Ainos Mountain Marathon 34km at 07:30 am from Poros and at 09:00 am from Pyrgi or with their own cars for those who want to follow.

After the marathon free food is offered to the athletes - participants in Pyrgi with the use of a special card given from the organization of the Marathon.

Mellisani - Drogarati Caves
The Municipality of Sami and the Community of Pyrgi of Kefalonia offer the next day of the Marathon free transport of the athletes and their tour of the caves of Melissani and Drogarati.
